Holidays and Knitting

Hello everyone Ali here again at last, I am sorry for the long wait for me to write a blog, Louise has been keeping things going for me while I have been designing new patterns and having a holiday.

Weather report

After a lovely spell of good weather today is dismal, cooler with grey sky.

News It has been a busy designing start to our year this year.  So far I have designed;

  • Hat and Scarf
  • Blanket for a magazine 'our first commission' is out now in this months Crochet Now magazine.
  • Florence Elizabeth and her Bedtime outfit available soon
  • Knitting a blanket
  • Sheep

Knitting pattern Our first knitting pattern is ready. It is worked in Stylecraft Weekender a super chunky yarn and I used 6 balls.  The blanket is made using a simple cable stitch with garter stitch borders. It is fun and quick to make.  The pattern is now published and you can download the PDF here - Lupin Cable Blanket.

Trying to get a sheep designed

I have been working on a sheep pattern for Jayne from Homefarm Wensleydales.  It took six tries to get the size right so that we did not use too much yarn....

Here are the first prototypes...

The pattern is now available to buy here - Wendy, Wilbur and Wesley Woolly Jumper

Epic trip I know I should not have holidays but we had been planning this one for some time. Phil and I were away for 14 days driving over 2000 miles from home around the North Coast of Scotland ( North Coast 500) normally people drive from Inverness to Applecross and then follow the road along the top of Scotland back to Inverness. Just to be different we travelled the other way round driving up from Inverness to John o Groats and then to Shieldaig. We did not go all the way to Applecross because we were there two years ago. It was a continuation of our coastal adventures. I will be writing about all the places we visited on our blog over the next few weeks.  We want to eventually complete the whole of the GB coastline. You can follow our adventures here We stayed in lots of BandBs some of them were absolutely fabulous and put the hotels to shame. It was an amazing experience and one we would love to do again, we stopped in little villages and saw beautiful bays. If you ever get the chance to do this trip dont just drive it in a couple of days allow time to stop to see the sights.

Ruined Castles

We really had a super time......

Holiday homework Finished one sock, finished Jaynes sheep, finished a knitted mobeus scarf, started a day-date-easy-crochet pattern jacket from the Make and Do Crew, this is a super jacket to take while travelling it is 2 hexagons and extra added pieces. I hope to finish soon....

This sock was made using Opal 4ply yarn and the Rose City Roller sock pattern by Mara Catherine Bryner.

Well that was a long blog hope I did not bore you too much, it was good to be back working again
